Tony Ekata is an international broadcast and new media journalist, analyst, author, poet, professional editor, trainer, rapporteur, MC, speech writer, media and publicity strategist and publisher.

He joined Nigeria’s statutory international radio broadcasting corporation, the Voice of Nigeria (VON) in 1996 from a language teaching background and has risen through the ranks to the position of Deputy Director News. He has made working visits to well over a dozen different countries and all parts of Nigeria in the course of his duties in the following capacities:

• State House Correspondent/Chairman State House Press Corps (Presidential Villa Abuja: 1999-2002)
• Bureau Chief: VON Southern Africa Bureau Pretoria South Africa (2002-2010; 2014-2019)

• Head: Online News (VON Lagos: 2010-2012)
• Member: Nigeria National Good Governance Tour (2013)
• Head of VON Delegation: 2014 Nigerian National Conference

Tony established the non-profit online news publishing outfit in 2014 and since then has used it to inform, entertain and educate tens of thousands of followers and subscribers.

He is the author of the widely acclaimed memoir OLD SCHOOL: Recollections of a 70s Student and RANDOM THOUGHTS: A Collection of Essays and Poems (Due for publication).
